This is the story of Bryan Johnson - a 45 year old American Tech entrepreneur, (also a millionaire, pilot, professional rejuvenation athlete, and what not!) and his Project Blueprint, which has grabbed headlines all over the world!
In October 2021, Johnson started Project Blueprint and he currently spends $ 2 million / year on Project Blueprint
Project Blueprint aims to reverse the biological age of more than 70 of our organs maximally, and to measure the age reversal, as well. In my understanding, the underlying logic of Project Blueprint is that every human behaviour has an impact on every organ of our body. And by measuring this impact, we can understand which behaviours impact our organs positively and which ones impact our organs negatively, in biological terms. Johnson and his team do a thorough scientific analysis and include certain behaviours / actions in their Project Blueprint protocol, when they are fully convinced of its positive impact on organ health.
Johnson is the main subject of this project - all the positive behaviours / actions, as per the Project Blueprint protocol, are included in Johnson’s daily regimen, as he follows the prescribed Do’s and Don’ts of the protocol, on a daily basis, to the T. The prescribed path includes various health testing protocols - on a perpetual (with continuous monitors on his body), multiday, daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis. The perpetual measurements also help the team in adding to or correcting protocols.
Johnson believes that we cannot allow our mind to be in charge of our health - it is easily enticed into flawed and unhealthy behaviours / actions. Instead, he and his team are trying to create a protocol which works best for each organ of the body and which will enable us to achieve biological age reversal and therefore better health, for much longer. Johnson and his team let data and science do the hardwork. They create protocols on the basis of validated data, which controls behaviour. Having created a daily protocol, Johnson and his team have also evolved a detailed matrix for measuring its impact on his health, with about 150 tests!
Johnson and his team of 30 doctors have created a detailed and very specific protocol for him to follow every moment of the day.
The protocol includes
his diet - including eating times, exact quantity, calories, quantity and source of ingredients, cooking method, etc. He consumes a vegan diet, 1977 calories / day in only 3 fixed meals a day, at a 24% calorie deficit, has a 16-18 hour daily fast, has no caffeine, or alcohol, no sugar, and has a diet of 19% protein, 33% carbs, 48% fats.
his exercise - includes an aggressive 1 hour a day weight training protocol, around 25 exercises, also includes HIIT 3 times a week. His aggressive exercise regimen makes him score among top 10% of 18 year olds in various categories! Combined with the diet, he now has body fat of 6.9%!
his sleep - at a minimum 8 hours a day, with fixed sleeping time starting 8.30pm, sleeping alone in a blacked out room, with blue ray blocking glasses, in a temperature controlled room and mattress, with a sleep measuring device: WHOOP, with use of specific pillow, mattress, etc.
his supplements - about 104 supplements, about 100+ pills daily, from certified manufacturers.
his tests - he has a fixed protocol of 150+ tests that are done daily (like blood, stool, urine, saliva, weight, body composition, sleep, whole body MRI and Ultrasound, heart measures, VO2 max, etc.) and multiple others which are performed over longer periods, totally measuring 70+ organs in multiple ways. Together these tests show us the impact that these protocols are having on his body and biological age reversal.

Most importantly the protocol identifies and directs elimination of all self destructive behaviours - which they believe has caused maximum damage to us, as a species!
Johnson claims that the project has so far resulted in his biological age reversal of 5.1 years and that he now has the heart of a 37-year-old. His pace of ageing is 0.69, which generally speaking, means that for every 365 days, he ages 252 days! He claims that he is ageing slower than an average 10 year old!
Johnson’s goal with Project Blueprint is to remain the same age biologically for every 365 days of chronological time.
This requires
maximally slowing aging processes and
reversing aging that has and continues to happen.
Johnson’s claim “if I am able to reverse my measured biological age by 1.01 years for every one year that passes, that is evidence that we have reached the first stage of ageing escape velocity where life expectancy increases faster than passed time.”
He is working on building an “Autonomous Self” - his aim is to provide highly effective automated health protocols to reduce biological ageing, - to avoid having to think about them and which become part of our daily regimen - these would also help us move to the next level of brain health and performance.
Via Project Blueprint, he is endeavoring to eliminate all bodily self harm by demoting the mind and relying entirely on data and science to determine his eating, sleeping, exercising, protocols. What he is following currently has resulted in near perfect health markers!
As A.N. Whitehead remarked, “Civilization advances by extending the number of important operations which we can perform without thinking of them.” With Project Blueprint and the “Autonomous Self”, the endeavour is to give us a protocol with which we can remain and reduce our biological age over time, with currently available resources and understanding.
