Are you being responsible towards your family - with regard to Your Health?
No # 18, 4 minute read
Our Health is Our responsibility, not that of our spouse, parent, children, staff, friend, or any other being. We know this intuitively, but do we follow this? We all know of family members / friends or their family who neglect their health and have to become dependent on family / friends / other support systems in later life, in anycase, adding an extra layer of distress to their near and dear ones! Is this fair or responsible?
To add to the problem, we now know that we are going to live even longer!1 -given the continuing advances in medical therapies, lifestyle improvements, age reversal tech, etc.
And we are not even discussing the tremendous discomfort and distress that the patient suffering from poor health, goes through!
I am happy to share that thanks to the significant progress in the last 1 / 2 decades in the fields of medicine, the confluence of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and computer engineering, quantum computing, etc. we are in a much better positon to support ourselves in our healthcare endeavours and this can help us become much more responsible for our health.
Here’s how:
Advanced Diagnostic tools: using these, we can identify and track any potential illness and can take steps to prevent a major adverse health event from occurring. Tests include whole body MRI, whole genome sequencing, detailed imaging and metabolics, health watch / tracker downloads, among other routine tests. Every test result (taken after 6 months to 1 year) is compared with ideal health parameters and also with base line data of the individual him / her self. These tests are available in places like Health Nucleus, USA and similar clinics and have been able to identify cancers, Alzheimer’s, heart problems, possibly 5 to 10 years before their onset. As per historical understanding, one in three cases, of a serious health condition, is preventable through simple lifestyle changes itself (while others may need a medical intervention).
These tests are now quite safe and risks of false positives (which happened about 10 years ago) has been controlled by artificial intelligence and other technological advancements.
It is recommended that we take these tests every year after age 40 and be better armed to prevent any potential adverse health events which appear likely to occur in the future.
Health monitoring devices: New age health monitoring devices such as the Smart health watch, Oura sleep ring, CGMs (continuous glucose monitors), skin / heart patches, (and under development digital pills, advanced wearables, nanobots for advanced imaging and diagnostics), etc. - are already forming the backbone of preventative healthcare.
Working together with advanced diagnostics we will have an early alarm for any potential adverse health event, giving us enough time and more to mitigate any such risk.
Regenerative medicines / therapies: Along with prevention, we can also add regenerative therapies to our armour for staying healthy and youthful. Regenerative therapies help the body to restore itself to a state of well-being.
New age regeneration therapies include many options such as supplements, drugs, stem cell therapies, young plasma transfusions, gene editing, organ support, organ replacement, etc.2
Off these therapies, we can start with supplements immediately, while the other therapies are still undergoing strict FDA scrutiny for widespread commercial use (though we are seeing examples of huge success in certain cases in clinical trials as also in non FDA approved clinics in different parts of the world).
Biohacking: In the context of staying healthy, biohacking refers to using science and technology to make the body stay young and healthy, function better and more efficiently. Biohacking starts with the ideal end point health parameters and works backwards to help us reach these parameters using various tools in day to day life.
Examples of biohacking are: cold exposure, infrared saunas, HIIT cardio workouts, HBOT therapy (HyperBaric Oxygen Therapy), early morning sun exposure, intermittent fasting, walking bare foot, etc.
Biohacking guru Dave Asprey aims to live to the age of 180 using these and other more aggressive techniques!
Routine health responsibility: While the previous suggestions perhaps involve a new intervention for your healthcare and wellness, our routine health responsibilities must be pursued and fulfilled on a daily basis. These include3:
Maintain the ideal weight and BMI for your height, age and gender
Eat healthy, eat less often and eat less, avoid sugar, milk, white grains
Exercise daily: for 1 hour - 4 days of weight training and 2 days of cardio (HIIT) to the best of your ability
Sleep well
De-stress, meditate
Avoid sodas, tobacco / smoking, exposure to chemicals
Have enough water, Limit intake of alcohol
Suffice it to say that there are enough things we can do and become responsible for our health!
I can dare say that with correct application of the above suggestions, and new developments in this space, you can effectively handle the big 6 killers: heart disease, cancers, stroke, diabetes, pain, and neuro diseases, lead a healthy and active lifespan.
As a bonus, you will also be blessed by your family!
